FlySight announces the integration of its OPENSIGHT suite into the AW101/CH-149 SAR “Cormorant” helicopter modernization program, complementing Leonardo’s advanced HELIAWARENESS avionics system. 

This integration is part of a comprehensive upgrade initiative by the Canadian Department of National Defense and Leonardo, aimed at modernizing and expanding Canada’s fleet of AW101/CH-149 SAR “Cormorant” helicopters. The program seeks to elevate the already exceptional performance of these aircraft in challenging SAR missions.

FlySight will provide Leonardo with the OPENSIGHT suite, a state-of-the-art situational awareness solution that will be integrated into the HELIAWARENESS system. This collaboration brings below key advancements include: Advanced Moving Map and Enhanced Reality System, with AR and advanced Video Tech, Dynamic and Flexible Architecture, Optimized interface for mission operators and Comprehensive Sensor Integration. 

Enhanced Capabilities – The integration of FlySight’s technology with Leonardo’s advanced avionics suite will result in reduced search times in SAR operations, increased target identification capabilities, particularly in challenging environments and improved mission planning, execution, and analysis activities
