The Irish Air Corps are aiming to enhance their rotary fleet with the acquisition of four H145M light-utility helicopters, marking a significant development in their rotary-wing capabilities. These versatile aircraft will modernize their operations, strengthen training programs, and ensure we are well-prepared for a wide range of critical missions.

The €92m deal for four new Air Corps helicopters was announced by Tánaiste Micheál Martin and the first delivery is expected to commence in 2027.

Brigadier General Rory O’Connor, General Officer Commanding the Irish Air Corps, said “The acquisition of the Airbus H145M helicopters marks a significant milestone for the Air Corps. These light multi-role helicopters will serve as a critical enabler for training, ISTAR, and armed support operations. They will provide vital tactical transport support to the Army, Navy, and Army Ranger Wing, ensuring the Air Corps remains mission-ready for years to come.”

Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Sean Clancy added: “The procurement of the Airbus H145M helicopter platform is another important step on the journey of transformative change of our Defense Forces. These new light multi-role helicopters, proven in their service in other militaries, will not only enhance the Irish Air Corps’ rotary capability but will also serve as a critical enabler to the Army, Naval Service and Special Operations Forces.”
