The US State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of India of MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopter Equipment and Follow-on Support for an estimated cost of $1.17 billion.

The Government of India has requested to buy thirty Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio Systems. Plus the following non-MDE items will also be included: advanced data transfer systems, external fuel tanks, FLIR systems, an operator machine interface assistant, support and test equipment, Joint Mission Planning System, Identification Friend or Foe equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment.

The principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, located in Owego, NY.

The proposed sale will improve the Government of India’s capability to deter current and future threats by upgrading anti-submarine warfare capabilities. India will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment and services into its armed forces.

Implementation of this sale will require travel of up to twenty U.S. Government or up to twenty-five contractor representatives to the Government of India on a temporary basis for program technical support and management oversight.
