KAI has delivered the first two “Mirion” LAH-1 to the Korean Army Aviation at the headquarters of its manufacturer Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. in headquarters in Sacheon in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
The event was attended by KAI President Kang Gu-young and officials from the Army, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
The LAH-1 ‘Miron’ was developed to replace the aging 500MD and AH-1S Cobra and is equipped with the ‘Cheongeom’ air-to-ground anti-tank missile plus 2.75-inch rockets and a turret mounted 20mm machine gun.
KAI President Kang Gu-young said “The successful development and deployment of Mirion is a symbol of the continuous efforts and passion of the government, the military, and the industry including KAI. “We will successfully complete the timely delivery and operational support through thorough quality control of the aircraft until deployment, and contribute to strengthening our military advanced aviation power through continuous technological innovation.”
